Real Photo Postcards Preserving Their History

I started collecting Fossils when I was a small child. We would spend days searching for a gathering fossils. What a thrill it was when we came across a large fossil bed, it was as if we were gold miners who had just hit the motherload. It wasn't until many years later I learned I was disturbing the continuity of history. That fossil had gone untouched for millions of years until we came by and scooped it up. I did not realize the valuable information that was lost by not spending the extra… Continue

Ephemera, A Window To Your Past

My incurable obsession with ephemera has been an invaluable tool in constructing a more complete picture of my past. I have been involved in researching my families genealogy for 12 years now and the photos, postcards, old newspapers, bills, books and all things paper have been a great help in filling in the gaps and gaining information that otherwise would have been lost forever. While constucting our family tree I not only search for names and dates but also for anything that can tell me more… Continue

Member to Member linking..

Gary Roberts wrote in a post recently:
One of the better ways to manipulate search engines, and in particular Google, is to foster links both within a site and between sites. That's the core of one of the Google programs... the more links to a site, the more important it must be.

Toolemera Blog

I am going to try, as time permits, to introduce my readers to the blogs of some other member of T.E.N.

Today I introduced Gary Roberts. I have found his blog as well as his website quite interesting and informative...and I wanted my readers to share in his insight as well. I hope I did Gary justice with my comments.

You can read my blog on Toolemera here.

Hoping to help build interest in The Ephemera Network

I'm trying to do my share of growing this wonderful network.

I have written an article on my ephemera blog that will hopefully draw us some new members. While my blog is not viewed by tens of thousands each day (how I wish!) there are a number of ephemera collectors who do stop by. Let's hope some of them will visit us here.. and join!

Welcome to the dinner party! (a borrowed analogy)

This networking site is like a dinner party. It’s held at my house and I have done my best to prepare. The space is adequate, I hope, and the food well prepared. I may even have some nice wine on the table. But the heart of the party, the breath and the life of the party is out of my hands. A party, if it is a party and not an entertainment, is its guests.

I can do my best to introduce the guests to each other and strike up a conversation here and there. I can make the… Continue
