Today I was wandering around town and I found a second hand bookstore about 5 miles from my house. I stopped and went inside and started to look at the "antique" labeled section. The store owner then pleasantly came over and greeted me. He then asked if I was looking for anything specific. I said "no Im a ephemera collector but I've been known to collect books from time to time". The owner smiled and stated he had two boxes of 19th century Canadian Parliament sessional packets. The items were th…

This came with the property we moved into 5 years ago. Can someone point me in the right direction on having these
potentially appraised ? 300 plus prints and other snippets from about 60 + years ago ... and most likely the same
person put them togethor. I do not want to break this collection up ... nor do I want to sell it at an auction to have
broken up by a new owner. There is a enough in this collection to fill a small gallery - and the color quality of the prints
is amazing.
Thanks for you…

There aren't too many postcards available in the world today that contain a real 3D laser hologram. There are other
types of 3D postcards, such as lenticulars that have been around for decades. But postcards with holograms are a true rarity. Believe me, I look for them all the time (including postcard shows!). So,…

It was a hot August afternoon in Texas. I was out for a Friday afternoon drive when I came across an indoor garage sale. I thought to myself "Great. Cold air conditioning. As I was looking over the assorted items I happened to wander into the garage. In one corner sat an large antique wooden chest covered with dust. Out of curiosity I opened it and the adrenalin started pumping.
Underneath a carefully folded 48 star American flag was a story. It was a story that began with a marriage in 1880 and…

While eBay fees rise and their marketing efforts focus on the big mega-mall sort of sellers, and Etsy limits sellers to vintage and handmade goods, it's important to note there are a few new marketplaces in "Beta" that I'm working with (disclaimer! lol) that are worth checking out...
Collectors' Quest has a new Marketplace & Twolia has Shops.
Collectors' Quest is dedicated to collectors and so…

Hey gang,
I'd posted a couple of these over here, the one about the Spark Plug collector and the other on the Judy Garland collector, but I've since widened my net from customers and am looking for anyone who'd like to share their collection on my site, the VintageMeld.
Added bonus if you have your own site, http://vintagemeld.com has a Google Page Rank 4 and your site would definitely be getting linked to in the post, so I might be able to pass some good Google juice your way.
The main theme…

I couldn't help thinking of our modern-day computer graphics this morning while reading this short article on the last wood engraver in Germany. This could be something similar for us in the year 2109 . . . as the last computer artist sells their studio equipment to a museum (if it takes that long this time around).
Coming from the printing trades myself, and at age 53, I was born into the new era of automation and computerization that swept the industry. I started off with paper tape machines…
