Ephemera Buying in London

David, I stayed in London for several months back in 2002. Had I more than a nickel to my name, I'd have been back since! Lovely, peculiar place. I recommend the weekend market along Portabello Roa...

Sweet! I know exactly where York is. (I lived in Philly for 4 years, so somewhat familiar with PA too). I was looking for a Saturday activity. Do you have any more info on the event?

If you're going to arrive before this weekend, there is a major annual postcard event being held in York, PA (Nov. 20th and 21st). York is definitely within straight-through driving distance of Baltimore.

Frank, your wife sounds like a busy lady! And a saint! David, what a great opportunity! I'm heading to the post office later today and will gladly send some your way.

Audrey, I echo Frank. As a veteran and artist, I will soon be teaching returning veterans (suffering with PTSD) about how to create mail art as an aid to recovery. I would be very happy to distribute some of these to participants. Please. Dubé O...

I'm off to Baltimore for a couple weeks and curious - any good ephemera spots? I actually lived there a couple years back (although only for a few months) but ephemera wasn't on my radar then so I am clueless! Thanks in advance for the help.

That's a very nice gesture. My wife supports over 100 charities a month, and veteran-related services are high on that list.

I've acquired a lot of these stamps/tags, and would like to extend an offer to our nation's bravest citizens. If you are a veteran and would like one of these, I'll happily send you one free, just message me with your address. Offer's good betw...

About 2 years ago, I gave a copy of a 1954 November issue LIFE magazine, Dorothy Dandridge on cover, to a good friend. I had framed it in a thick (almost shadow box) matted frame to keep the magazine intact and yet use it as art. Anyway, now that ...

Paul - My, you all are an egalitarian bunch! Glad to see I won't be stoned. I'll have to post some of my collages and get some feedback as well. For better or worse :)

Frank - From working with architects, I've learned that *almost* nothing is sacred. It is the rare building that gets preserved as is; more oft, it's remodeled 30 years down the road for "reuse" as a completely different type of facility. Some des...

Mike - Thanks for chiming in! I never thought about anything I made becoming part of a future collection. What a very strange thought! (at least to me). I do think about what I would leave behind if I died, how much of a mess it would be as I am a...

Mike has a very good point, and one that I had not given much thought to: that the mixed media that is created through cutting will become ephemera itself someday. Therefore, perhaps one could assume that ephemera is much like energy itself: it ca...

Offer's good between now and Thanksgiving.

I'm a Cutter...

I have a confession. I collect ephemera for two main reasons. First, I save 50's (and sometimes other) era invitations and note cards for possible future use. If I marry and breed, I've got some killer baby shower invites stored for use. It's reason enough to procreate, really. Secondly, I like to cut. A pair of Fiskars, ye olde X-acto, one of my razor-sharp fingernails...it matters not. I li… Continue

Hi Audrey, and welcome to TEN! I enjoyed your blog . . . especially your Olivetti advertisements. Great ads of the era there.
