About Me:
I was a collector (albeit unfocused and random) of ephemera before I knew there was such a thing. During my nine years on staff at the Specialty Coffee Association of America, I began to collect coffee related ephemera on behalf of the association. I recently decided to make collecting ephemera an “official” hobby and to begin learning more and become a bit more serious.

My “day job” is as a consultant in the coffee industry. Not too long ago a colleague of mine started a networking site for baristas, which has been enormously successful. It occurred to me that starting such a thing for ephemera might be a good way to learn, and use my inclination as a former association executive to “facilitate” gatherings of those with shared interest. While I don’t expect as much participation as a site devoted to baristas, I think the passion I’ve seen among ephemera collectors might make for a dynamic community regardless of numbers.

I will be working a bit on the site each day so please be patient as I add (or remove) features and try to make things more presentable and organized. The Google ads keep the site free but I don’t plan on keeping them for too long. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

. Mike, it's interesting that you have chosen to start this group. Perhaps this may be a vehicle for discussing ephemera availability (and rough pricing) in London and the UK in general? . .

I just put up a new piece on my blog. This is a larger Billhead, but perfect for what I've in mind for this kind of Ephemera. I'll let you decide if it's a 'proper use' of old paper! http://oldpaperart.blogspot.com/2009/06/startup-with-coke.html
Folks - This is what I do with sheet music: http://oldpaperart.blogspot.com/2009/06/first-cup-of-fascination.html Lots of possibilities for art work, either your own or for someone else. I would be willing to take any sheet music published betwee...

Reflections on 200

A little over six months ago, TEN hit 100 members and I posted my thoughts on that milestone. It captured my feelings well, so I’ve featured that post since some of you (approximately 100) may have not read it:

http://ephemera.ning.com/profiles/blogs/reflections-on-100

In the last paragraph, after all of my “ephemeral” musings, I asked everyone to stick around, invite new members, and use use use the site. While I am a un… Continue

The TEN Orientation Express

New member Lee Kirk (Welcome Lee) inquires as to an orientation page that provides information about TEN and explains how to use some of its features. This tells me that we are moving past the early adopters. I will work on an orientation page and I invite everyone to post your ideas on what should be included. Early adopter don't mind a bit of a learning curve, but it's time to flatten it out so new members don't become inactive before they were ever active. Thanks.

Thank you. I'll have to look around a bit here. Marianne Dow sent me here as I was asking questions of her about the AntiqueWeek Community that she couldn't answer. Not that the questions were obscure, but I joined there in order to share, perhaps learn a little about the resource, and also get the opportunity to obtain more 'canvas' for my art work.

Thanks for this Group!
haahaa, Coffeetinker, don't try stealing it now... I love, love, love Coffee... And I spend way to much time "tinkering"... Kinda like, you know "tinkering", especially at estate sales and on the computer. The 2 just seem to go hand in hand..

Hi Mike,
Just wanted to say hello. Inspired by your T.E.N. I have created two new Ning networks about collecting hycinth vases (in Dutch) and World War 2 games and puzzles (in English).
Hope you are well.
Greetings from the Netherlands,
Gejus
