Martin, this brought back happy memories and reminded me of so many other comics now disappeared. I heard a tale told of the late Denis Gifford, cartoonist for comics, writer and collector of the genre. His comic collection took over his house. A GP visiting him close to the end of his life viewed it as a safety hazard and arranged for their removal to landfill. A timely visit by friend Bob Monkhouse stopped the irretrievable loss of the collection. This tale appears only in part on Wikipedia and I would be unable to verify the extra info.
