Incredible piece of Rock and Roll history from "The Day the Music Died." This copy of Buddy's last single to be released during his lifetime was signed by Holly and his Winter Dance Party tour-mates Richie Valens, Dion, Carlo of Dion's backing group the Belmonts, and Frankie Sardo at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, the night of February 2, 1959, just hours before the plane crash that took the lives of Holly, Valens, and the Big Bopper. The record is "It Doesn't Matter Anymore"/ "Raining In My Heart" and was so new, it wouldn't make its debut on Billboard's Hot 100 for another three weeks. Buddy, Richie, and Frankie Sardo signed the record on the "Raining" side, with Dion and Carlo signing "It Doesn't Matter Anymore." Incredible piece - and an incredibly sad memento from a momentous day in Rock and Roll history. The record's condition: VG 5, with a 1/2 " defect in the vinyl, not a crack. Estimate $8000 – up. Included in Heritage Auctions’ Music & Entertainment Auction #7053, March 31, 2012, in Dallas.
