The Sweet Inspirations have a storied background - founded by Cissy Houston (Whitney's mother) in 1963 with Doris Troy ("Just One Look") and Dee Dee Warwick (Cissy's niece and Dionne's younger sister), the group had some success recording on their own, but were legendary backup performers for such high-profile acts as Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Barbra Streisand, and many others, including Elvis beginning in 1969 when the King of Rock and Roll resumed live performances. Offered here is a "bonus" check to the group, signed by "E. A. Presley" on July 23, 1975 after a road tour. Long-time member Myrna Smith endorsed the check. Estimate $3000 – up. Included in Heritage Auctions’ Music & Entertainment Auction #7053, March 31, 2012, in Dallas.
