Between The Acts Cigarette Pack 1870's

Tobacco has been an integral part of American history since the English invasion of the early 1500's. The weed was traditionally carried in a leather pouch and smoked in a pipe or rolled in a tobacco leaf, forming a cigar. The custom of rolling tobacco in paper started shortly after the American Civil War, when paper production increased due to improved mass-production techniques. Factory made paper-rolled cigarettes became an item in the 1870's and have been with us ever since. This 1870's pack of taylor-made " Between The Acts" cigarettes was one of the brands that started the ball rolling making it easier for everyone to start smoking, thus eliminating the tedium of rolling your own or carrying around a smelly pipe.
