Hi, I am a new member of the Ephemera Network and am interested in trade cards advertising textile notions and tools.  Particularly interested in Sewing Machine cards (and other items such as fans, mini-aprons and book-marks) with stitch samples.  Many of these are marked "sewn on a xxxx Sewing Machine." Also would be very interested in trade cards advertising crochet thread or hooks.

The Maris card that IDs this group reminds me of a rare Maris card I found in a paperback book last week. It was being used as a bookmark. Pure luck on my part that I fished this book out of a bin full of old paperbacks. The Maris card is a promo of sorts, I guess you'd call it, for Sam Gordon's restaurant in Sacramento. Gordon bought the home run ball Maris hit (#61) to beat Babe Ruth's single season record. A Brooklyn man actually caught the ball, but Gordon paid him $5,000 for it and later presented the ball to Maris in what was obviously a big PR deal for Gordon. The card depicts that exchange at his restaurant. Can't be too many of these floating around. And it won't be mine for long as it currently has bids on ebay. I may regret selling it.
