I recognized DiMaggio and Musial in that Baseball Ad............

One of my favorite ironic tobacco ads (and I don't have one scanned 'case we avoid selling them) are the (brand escapes me at the moment) ones with the baby who recommends the brand to his dad....next time I find one I'll save and scan it.

I've got that same ad. You know there are people who collect the old tobacco ads that have famous sports figures in them smoking, because now a days we frown on that. Back then these guys were professional sports figures who set all sorts of records and they smoked like fiends. Then there are the ones who actually had Doctors recommending one brand of cigarettes over another. Now if that isn't a hoot and a half!

The ad is dated 1948, the players are Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Bob Elliott, Joe DeMaggio, Bucky Harris and Ewell Blackwell.

That's surely a winner Nancy. I bet the baseball fans amongst us could even name each of the players (I can't). Any idea what era that is from?

I Always like the Chesterfield Cigarette Ads with Famous Baseball Players Advertising for that Brand.

I have never seen that brand- so I would say it could be an off Brand.
But I do not smoke so never go over to cigarette areas of any store.

Does this "Tall" cigarette ad qualify as an "off brand" of cigarette.

I like the ads of off Brands of cigarettes, what even happened to them.
Spring the "air-conditioned" cigarette.

Oh Tom! I remember those ads! They were hysterical! I used to smoke that brand...wonder if those ads had a sub-conscious reason for me choosing them? Nah, they used a better grade of tobacco and tasted better.

I agree with both Bev and Nancy. As much as I hate cigarettes and tobacco... they sure had some great ads in their day. I have uploaded one of my favorites here
