I just purchased a small collection of old stocks and checks and vintage paper receipts and other mining paper items.

It is so nice, heart warming to see items from my collection - now in such safe hands - so well displayed. I cannot be objective but the French Revolutionary items look mouthwatering collectors' items. Jesus, congratulation on your purchases!

In several countries playing cards have been used for substitute currency. A few examples from my collection.

French Revolution, c1790

French Revolution, 1791

French Revolution, 1792 (pips are scratched off)

Germany, 1921-1922

Other playing card currency has been used in Surinam and Canada.
