I have a large collection of Postcards and would appreciate any advice on them. I am not a collector myself and so I don't know all the terminology used to describe them. Some are from the early 1900's and were sent by the same man as he traveled around the world after World War 1.

They can be viewed in my booth under Postcards-Antique,Vintage...

Hello all,
I am new to the group.
I love old post cards. I have just a few, but they are hard to photograph.
This is one of my favorite and oldest. It's dated 1906 with a 2 cents stamp.

Cool - it's 10:56 here - was having trouble w/the 'puter but fixed it and I'll post a pic Saturday! Thanks Rita and Frank - I'm enjoying collecting, including "collecting" some newfound friends, lol!

I'm late to this party........LOL. But I know what you are talking about. Can you show us a picture of it. It might be a bit earlier. I know that in the early 50's, my grandmother had and OLD weather forecaster that was an Indian Brave whose loin cloth had the litmus paper that turned colors as the weather changed. it was from the 30' that technology was around way back show us the might be older..........just a thought!

Thanks Frank! Well, at least I only paid $2 for it! Interesting how you can find something in the South that you think is unique only to discover that in the East it was quite common! Ah, the joys of collecting, however small the objet desire might be, lol! But yeah, if you find more - I'll buy them from you - please find me one that actually works! Thanks!

I just bought a "Weather Church." It's postcard size and is known as a hygroscope. It states on the front:

This church has roof and steeple BLUE
When skies are fair and clouds are few;
Their color turns to PINK, you'll see,
For rain or high humidity;
But when they have an ORCHID hue,
Then you'll know a change is due.

At the top it has Lancaster, PA. - says to place near Window or Door -- Away from Heat. I couldn't find out anything about it on the net and thought it was unique. It's copyrighted Shore Studios, Brigantine, N.J. Does anyone know how old it might be? I love collecting things from the 40's and I'm just wondering. Thanks!

Paper multiplies like rabbits. I have rediscovered so much that I had packed away and forgotten about. Now that I have started TEN, I feel I must organize and make sure everything is properly protected.
