Oy! I meant ..... I guess I just can't resist... instead of can't just, lol. Sometimes the writer don't write so good, lol.

Well, like you - I love the old illustrators and illustrations. I also love the artwork on some of the old books. This is what first attracted me to the calendar and I thought that since I'm a writer - that the pictures in the calendar would look great on my wall. Then I decided I should research my purchase and discovered that my initial hunch was right - the calendar should never be used as wall art for my office! lol. Anyway, like you - I guess I can't just resist art and/or poetry! Hope to "talk" to you again soon and I appreciate all the knowledge you've shared! I'm checking out your website later, too - I thought I'd already done that but I think it was somebody else's site I checked instead. Anyway, judging by the comments on your page - I think I'll quite enjoy it!

Oh my goodness! I kind of thought those illustrations looked quite a lot like Margaret Armstrong...she did such lovely work!

Without seeing the calendar in person...pictures look like the condition is quite extraordinary for the age...your instincts were very, very good!

In my humble opinion your calendar is probably worth somewhere between $200 to $250. It has so much going for it for so many different types of collectors. You've got an antique piece of ephemera that falls into advertising of a company that didn't advertise much at all to the public for a product that would be difficult to find advertising for, and then the poetry of a popular poet, illustrated in Art Nouveau by a highly collectible artist. It doesn't get much better than that! My estimate might even be a little on the low side.

Thank you for your lovely comments! They warmed my heart.

Do you check my page for more pics? It was hard to photograph the calendar because although it is beautifully illustrated, the colors are very subdued. You can see her name (if you can enlarge) on the photos I took.

I love ya Bev! Always professional, knowledgeable and positive! I know the artist - she is Margaret Armstrong, a famous illustrator and book author who is known for her Art Nouveau designs. I researched her on the net. Her name is printed on the front of the calendar and on the back of the calendar it reads, "....., after designs by Margaret Armstrong. Thanks so much, Bev - your comments are encouraging and I hope you had a great Christmas and blessings to you and yours in the coming year!

You know, this just gets better and better! I'm of the opinion that this calendar is a bit of a rarity and I'll explain why. Since Watson & Newell made souvenir spoons, I doubt this calendar was produced and given to the general public. My hunch is that they had the calendars made to be given to the distributors of their spoons possibly the shops that sold the spoons as souvenirs. That means there would not have been as many made - making it a rarity.

The poetry of Rosetti certainly adds value as she was quite a popular poet along with the rest of her family.

Now for the artist - is there any place that gives credit to an artist? It could not have been Rosetti or her brother Dante Rosetti because they both had passed away before this calendar was produced. Perhaps somewhere in the illustrations there is an artist signature.

And do we know who produced the calendar? Is there a copyright or a Litho Company mentioned somewhere?

Me, too, Tom - I learned something new and beautiful: Selected Poems of Christina Rosetti. Thanks, Nancy! I checked out the link - I love her poetry and all this from one little Art Nouveau Calendar and some interesting new friends!

I am also amazed at the prices many get for there ads. I have two different stores on ebay that sell ads--One store I price them for $9.99 and the other store I price them at $6.85.
Well I sell just as many ads in both stores.
It does not seem to matter what price I list them for--If the buyer whats that ad then they buy it.

Yes I do beleive the way items are displayed and how you word your discription may play a very BIG part in how fast you sell and what prices your are able to get for any item.

Tom YES I did learn Something NEW today.

Well it seems that Watson & Newell Co Made Souvnir Spoons.
This calendar may be of great value to a souvenir collector.
