THE EPHEMERA NETWORK

A Community Site for Anyone and Everyone Interested in Ephemera

I'm interested in vintage advertisements and other ephemera that is sexist, depicts particularly gender biased views and/or strongly illustrates stereotypical gender roles.

Does anyone know of any good online sources for purchasing what I've described?

Thanks!

Hi Samara,

I have a somewhat sexist ad in my store:

There are possibly/probably others, but I can't think of them offhand. You're welcome to take a look around.

Best,

Thanks! I just bought a few ads from your store.

Hello!

I have a few hundred postcards depicting sexist, racist, and stereotypical content from the 1890's through the 1970's. I have provided two scans of sexist postcards from the 1940's. If this type of subject matter is what you are looking for, drop me a line and we can go from there.

You could try this http://www.specialistauctions.com/auctiondetails.php?id=1090688  and I will glance through and see if I can find anything else. The main Forsythe Collection at York certainly had plenty and outstanding in it all was this http://forsytheonthenrm.blogspot.com/2011/03/virtually-seeing-some-... .I did scan more of this and will try to upload into photos. It might take a while.

My shop : http://www.etsy.com/shop/prosperpaper

I deal in a-lot counter culture and Un PC paper. Love the history.

I have quite a few of this type of magazine page, from Esquire magazine, somewhere in my studio. Probably 12 or so. They are in good shape, I was going to frame them for a friend but never got around to it. Would you be interested in anything like this?
