What are these? Are they removable? Did one really sell in a London auction for 12 mil? Thanks!

Are you referring to what is known in the printing industry as "blow in" cards? They are usually the heavy paper-stock inserts that fall out of magazines. If so, I was waiting for someone to say that they collected them (this would be the first). If not, I've mistaken the term for something else.

Hi Frank! I am not referring to "blow ins" I think the term I was going for is "supplemental advertisement" they aren't removable, but must be labeled "This is an Advertisement" because they look like regular articles. I had a great find, by the way... In a _ladies Home Journal_ from 1956, I found an envelope full of Kraft coupons! Also, I found pepsi, coke, and rock hudson camel cigarettes ads. here are a few pics... What do you think?

Yes, now I recognize what you're referring to (I'm an old-time marketing art print guy by trade). They fascinate me because they are intentionally designed not to look like an advertisement . . . yet are still needed to provide the actions of one (getting someone to take action, like place an order).

Great find in the '56 Ladies Home Journal. There's nothing like having a surprise drop out of a book or magazine.
